Inside the House

Guest room 1
Guest room 1

Double Room

The first guest bedroom is west facing and enjoys a good view over neighbouring farmland.

It offers a comfortable double bed (UK size), clothes hanging space, mini hi-fi, hairdrier, tea & coffee making facilities, ample drawer and cupboard space and has an electric radiator for the winter. An electric pedestal fan can be provided for the summer if required. There is also a small TV with DVD player and satellite feed (UK channels). We have a selection of DVDs and, of course, you can play any of your own that you may have brought with you.

Twin bedroom

Twin Room

The second guest bedroom is slightly smaller. It offers twin beds, and has an original (but non functional) fireplace in the corner. The room has a modern electric radiator, a stereo unit, drawer and cupboard space and a hanging rail. Facing east, it gets the best of the morning sunshine but is, in summer, cooler in the evenings.
Bathroom

Guest Bathroom

With toilet, shower, wash-basin and radiator/towel rail, this small bathroom enjoys a westerly aspect and is not overlooked.

A roller blind is fitted and can give additional assurance of privacy if required.

It is also a superb point from which to observe the behaviour of the small birds, as the tree housing their feeder and a number of fat balls is less than five feet away.

The Séjour

The front door leads directly into the séjour, which is configured as an open plan lounge/diner.

The part nearest the kitchen is the dining area with one sofa against the west wall. UK BBC Radio 2 is usually on in this area, fed by satellite.

The half nearest the fire is configured as a comfortable seating area with two sofas and the television wall-mounted adjacent to the front-facing (south) window.

Decking area

The outside room

Double doors at the other end of the séjour lead out to a decking area with a southerly and westerly aspect. This area enjoys sunshine from about 11am until sunset and is a great spot for a barbecue.

The video games area

Under the Roof

The attic conversion houses our private studies and contains a 21" colour television with Playstation II and a range of games, and a number of board games and jigsaw puzzles. Additionally, there is a folding bed and a camp bed should they be needed.

There is just one smallish south-facing window in the room (which makes it a bit dark), but the views from it are superb! A west-facing Velux window is high on the wish list.

This is also the only room in the house where mobile 'phones always work (the roof is not 75cm stone!).

annexe as a dining room

The annexe

The old bread oven room is looking for a job. During the past four years it has served variously as a workshop, a dining room and a lounge.

The Workshop

Now kitted out for (entry level) woodworking with table saw, band saw and lathe, plus a range of hand tools. This facility is not generally available for unsupervised guests' use.
